Regulator to survey charities about COVID-19 impact
The Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has today emailed all Scottish charities to ask for their help with completing a short survey. The survey will ask questions on the impact to the charity of coronavirus (COVID-19) and the subsequent lockdown measures.
The survey is being conducted by Breaking Blue, an independent market research organisation and member of the Market Research Society. It will be open from Tuesday 5 May until midnight on Thursday 14 May. Findings from the survey will be published once the results have been analysed.

OSCR Chief Executive Maureen Mallon said,
‘In the face of this pandemic, many charities have been doing amazing things, being at the heart of the response in many communities. They are doing this while operating in an extremely tough environment that brings many pressures. However, some are finding themselves unable to do anything or having to change the way they work radically.
‘In order to make sure we are working as effectively as possible in the recovery phase, we are looking to gather information on the ways in which the sector is being affected. We are also interested in looking forwards and understanding how best charities can be supported in the future.
‘We'd like to thank you in advance for your time and co-operation. Charities are facing greater demands on their time because of COVID-19, but the survey should only a take few minutes to complete. The findings will be used to inform our work, as well as to help local and national government, funders, public bodies and others in supporting the Scottish charity sector.’

- The email was sent to the principal contact email address of every charity on the Scottish Charity Register.
- If someone is the contact for a number of charities, they should choose to reply on behalf of the charity that they know best.
